What is the Personality Trait Instrument?

The Personality Trait Instrument (PTI) is a personality assessment created by retired Army Colonel, David Fivecoat and Dr. March Krotee, for the company, DSA Laboratories. The PTI measures an athlete’s cognitive strengths, including problem solving, reasoning, planning, and abstract thinking, as well as key personality traits in the context of sports performance. The PTI aims to help athletes better understand their unique gifts, talents, motivations, strengths, and weaknesses, and ultimately reach their fullest potential both on and off the field.

How does the PTI work?

DSA Laboratories’ Athlete Personality Trait Instrument helps develop an understanding of your personality traits. The instrument consists of 92 questions which will help you understand where you and your personality fall in each of the seven traits: New experiences, conscientiousness, sociability, agreeableness, stability, resilience, and grit.

After completing the instrument, you will be shown your overall results. Then you will be given a breakdown for each trait or skill along with a recommendation for future development of that trait or skill.
